Football may have been “coming home” for many Caistor residents this afternoon (Saturday, July 7, 2018), but the scene is set for the town to celebrate England’s victory in style later on this evening.
Just as most of the nation was tuning in to watch England’s 2-0 win over Sweden in the quarter-finals of the 2018 World Cup, others were enjoying a leisurely afternoon with Caistor Goes Back 100 Years at South Street Park.
The Citizen strolled up to the park shortly after the match finished to find a lull in this afternoon’s proceedings at “Top Park”, but can hear the party getting started in earnest while typing this report.
Live music is set to go on into the evening, with admissions by donations only.

Caistor and District Lions were ready to serve up plenty of refreshments, with swing boat rides on offer for very young party-goers.
Tonight’s finale will be a daring display from the Misfits fire stunts team.

Tomorrow, the action continues, tying in with Caistor Running Club’s popular “Sting in the Tail” 10K run at 10am, with a “Mini-Sting” 2K fun run kicking off the day’s events at 9am. A Lancaster Bomber Flypast, to highlight the centenary year of the RAF, is expected at 2.30pm.
