Work under way to repair church roof
Scaffolding has been in place during the past week at the Grade I listed building.
When it was erected, there was scarcely a leaf to be seen on many of the surrounding trees.
During that time, the workmen have seen one of the warmest April days on record, interrupted by a cold spell at the start of this week, and back to today’s sunshine.
In August 2016, it was announced that the Heritage Lottery Fund had agreed in principle to award £249,000 to the parish church, which is thought to be at least 1,000 years old.
Part of the money was to be spent on roof repairs to safeguard the church for the future. Some was to be spent on improving the experience of visiting the church.
