Workmen have made a start on Caistor’s long-awaited skatepark.

Groundworks are believed to have started at the sports ground off North Kelsey Road during the school half-term holidays.

The move has been applauded by young people on Facebook.

“I’ll be there all the time,” one youngster said.

“Same,” was the response.

Workers were in good spirits yesterday morning (Thursday, November 5, 2015) and were taking the wet weather in their stride. “At least it’s not frosty,” one said.

The £65,000 facilities at the sports ground will include a skatepark, multi-use games area and some outdoor gym equipment.

WREN, an organisation which seeks to improve the lives of people living near landfill sites, has awarded £35,000 in grant funding towards the cost of the project. The rest is coming from Caistor Town Council funds.

Weather will be a major factor for the completion date, but it is hoped the new facilities will be ready for use next Spring.

  1. Well personally I feel sorry for the people who’s gardens this skate park is plonked at the bottom of.I cannot believe the council has been duped into allowing this just by being lobbied by a handful of parents. A white elephant this scheme!!!!
