The first weekend of September 2021 saw the return of the popular Caistor Art Festival that was missed during the 2020 lock downs.

Visitors were greeted with live music and a smile from festival organiser Sheila Broster and her colleages, whilst her husband Mike pulled Wicked Blondes from Horncastle Ales for thirsty creatives, or if they preferred there was coffee, tea and other delights made by the volunteers  in the Town Hall Kitchen.

The actual exhibition filled the main space at the town hall with a riot of colour and creativity and the volunteer team were kept busy looking after collectors who chose to take the art home with them for a bargain price.

Another of the festival organising team and local artist Ailsa Wish was one of the team who gave demonstrations of how they creates their art. She made clever use of an old mobile phone that belonged to her grandson to project her hands onto the wall as she painted, and talked with the audience about things like what makes a painting enjoyable, and the geometry of design in terms of how art is composed.

  2. It was lovely to see the return of the exhibition. What a wealth of talent we have in this area. Thanks to the committee for organising this excellent event, including very welcome delicious refreshments. Not forgetting the ‘backstage crew’ who assembled the stands.
