Hockney, portraits and bikes at Montessori photography show
Images and report by Stewart Wall
IN THE third of a series of monthly exhibitions featuring local artists at Caistor Arts and Heritage Centre, photography by the children of Lincolnshire Montessori is currently being shown.
In our photograph above Jess Male, who co ordinated the photography exhibition with the children aged 7-11 years, talks to children and adult visitors to exhibition.
The walls are adorned with images of expressive portraits, David Hockney-style photo collages and all sorts of things that the pupils associate with their lives, such as their bicycles.
At the “Meet the Artist” event, which was held on a school day rather than the usual Saturday, large crowds attended to view the work.
Richard Morris of Estuary TV brought his camera and interviewed the children.
An interactive workshop called on visiting children to draw images that showed their personality, with the help of a mirror.
At the end of the meet the artist event, photographer Jess Male celebrated with a cup of hot chocolate. She is pictured standing in front of the Hockney style photo collages.
