Hodson Architects appointed for Co-op feasibility

Heritage Lincolnshire have appointed Hodson Architects to undertake a feasibility study on the former Co-op building in Caistor Market Square, it said today (Wednesday, September 16, 2015).

The organisation said it selected the Cleethorpes-based firm after a tender process and evaluation, during which submissions were scored by a panel on quality and cost.

“Hodson Architects were selected as they scored the highest,” said Kelly Appleton, Building Conservation Officer, in a press statement.

“We are really pleased to have them on board and we are looking forward to working with them and the community over the duration of the study,”  she added.

Although the company is based in Cleethorpes, it has strong links with Caistor. The company was involved with restoring the building now known as The Settlement, co-owned by Jo Hodson, a former Town Councillor who resigned her position in the latter part of 2013.

Hodson Architects sponsored Caistor Running Club’s “Sting In The Tail” 10K run earlier this year, with Mark Hodson being thanked for the event’s concept.

The feasibility report into the former Co-op building will be completed by the end of November, said Ms Appleton.

Heritage Lincolnshire said it was planning to hold public consultation events in October and November, with dates of the consultations expected to be released within the next few days. The Citizen was asked to forward any comments the public wanted to make about the former Co-op.

The press statement reported that Heritage Lincolnshire was working with the town council and Lincolnshire Co-op on the project, but surprisingly there was no mention of the issue at the town council meeting last week.
