Test run for mobile bank

Caistor’s new mobile banking service was being put through its paces this week – ahead of the NatWest branch closure next Tuesday.

The bank van was open for business today at the Town Hall car park off North Street, where it will be a regular sight on Mondays and Thursdays between 11.40am and 12.10pm. Five minutes have been added to the start and end for setting up and packing away.

There were no customers in the van when the Citizen visited today, but the team members said they didn’t expect many while the branch was still open. The test run was to help the staff familiarise themselves with their route, as they expect to visit Market Rasen and Barton on the same days as Caistor.

The crew members were chatty and friendly and said they were looking forward to serving people in Caistor. They said they loved being part of the mobile team. The van looked fresh and clean, with a compact layout and sturdy entrance steps.

After the Caistor branch closes, the nearest NatWest will be at 14 Market Place, Brigg. However, customers will be able to use their debit cards to take out cash and check balances at Caistor Post Office. They will also be able to use their paying-in books to make deposits, free of charge.

NatWest has also sought planning consent to retain the ATM machine in Caistor’s Market Square.
